Why is 5E Model important in Lesson Planning?

The use of 5E Model in making a lesson plan makes the lesson more organized.

It serves as a blueprint of your lesson.

Starting from Engage which is the starting point. At this part, you need to let the student engage with your lesson for today.

Explore which is the introductory part were the topic of the day will be introduced,

Explain is the part where teachers give information about the lesson or it can be student- centered were the students are in discovery mode.

Elaborate is the part when the teachers entertain questions about the topic. Asking questions making the student at ease and since it is a Science subject curiosity can come through them so might as well you need to answer them. When they ask it goes to show that they are interested, so as a teacher prepare your lesson beforehand and expect some questions for the students.

And the last is Evaluate wherein it is the part where we evaluate if students learned from us through assessment and oral recitation. All of those parts are essential for a good lesson.

On the other hand, there are also backlog or challenges in using it. What you put on the lesson sometimes/most of the time did not happen the way you expected it. Cause that is the reality. You will not always have picture perfect classroom set-up the way you imagined it on your lesson plan. There are always interruptions, distractions since you are dealing with elementary students. The classroom management, the capabilities of students and time also greatly affect the flow of the lesson.

Sometimes teachers also tend to forget each part in sequence, or forget the part at all but still as a teacher you need to find ways in order to still corporate it and be flexible enough to still manage to teach the lesson and to make students learn. Cause that is the ultimate goal, more than the perfect lesson you submit to your coordinator, the most important thing is how well does my student learn from me? Or did I add a new information on their mind bank? Did I help them to be good today? That is what matters the most.
